Q: How can I find out how much my insurance will cover for my stay at Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital?
A: The Financial Counseling Department will verify your insurance coverage as a courtesy for you and will meet with you/family members to go over that information.
Q: What payment methods are accepted by Provo Canyon Behavioral Hospital?
A: We accept personal checks, cashier’s checks, cash, VISA, MASTERCARD, DISCOVER, and AMERICAN EXPRESS. We are also TRICARE®-certified.
Q: What if I don’t have any insurance coverage?
The Financial Counseling Department is available Monday through Friday, from 8am to 4:30pm, and can assist you with this information.
Q: Should I present more than one insurance policy if I have multiple?
A: Yes, you should always present ALL active insurance policies, including TRICARE, at the time of registration. By allowing us to verify all policies and obtain authorizations, we can improve the process by which your insurance companies coordinate payment for possible deductibles or co-insurance.
Q: If I have been recently terminated from my job, will I still have coverage?
A: This depends on if you are eligible for continuation of coverage through COBRA. If you have confirmation letters showing you have recently been accepted/enrolled in continuation of coverage, please bring those with you and present at time of admission.
Q: How long does treatment last?
A: The length of time a patient is in treatment varies due to conditions and personal dynamics.

Q: What items should I bring or not bring with me during my stay at the hospital?

Recommendations of Patient Belongings

Please label all personal belongings with Patient’s First Name & Last Initial

  • 3 Casual Outfits
  • Tennis or slip on shoes – No Shoestrings
  • 3 pairs Socks
  • 3 pairs Underwear
  • 2 T-shirts, 2 Long Sleeved Shirts
  • Robes with all inside strings not attached/ No belt allowed
  • Bras without under wires & underwear
  • Appropriate Nightwear (not see thru or revealing)
  • Jacket/No Strings attached to it
  • Shampoo, Conditioner
  • Toothbrush, Toothpaste
  • Comb, Brush
  • Shaving Cream, Electric Shaver

Items Not Allowed to be Brought into the Hospital

  • No outside Food or Drink
  • Glass Items of any kind
  • Headphones
  • Radio’s, Tape Players or Hand Held Games
  • Lighters
  • Cell Phones, Beepers
  • Flat Irons
  • Picture Frames
  • Knives, Weapons
  • Dental Floss
  • Glass Vases
  • Pens (except those proved by the hospital)
  • Mirrors (including compacts)
  • Cologne, Perfume and Aftershave Bottles, Bars of Soap
  • Mouthwash with Alcohol
  • Belts
